Gallery: Split International Dog Show (CAC, CACIB Dugopolje)
It so happened that I had a chance to go to an international dog show in my home town (Split CAC, CACIB held in Dugopolje). Our family white miniature schnauzer Bonnie has to go to one of these shows and get judged so that her offspring could have a pedigree.
Great thing about the dog shows is that people that take their pets (and investments) to show are absolutely fine with you photographing them (and their dogs) so I had plenty of chance to take shots of some interesting breeds that are more rarely seen on streets.
And the dogs look fabulous! One of the local kids (a girl) sitting on the fence at the edge of the stadium where the event took place commented that she would not mind letting the handlers and groomers give her hair a bit of a treatment, she said ‘I’d look like million dollars’. Owners, trainers, groomers… these to me were the real stars of the show.
Not that the dogs mind the mind-boggling attention given to them. They all seem to love it or at least not care and some are real princes(ses)…
It is all a bit of (sometimes rather serious) fun and a colourful day out. Will definitely attend the next one and do more portraits of people as they are the real stars of the dog show.
